The USCAR Women's Club presented $180 worth of food to 60 needy blind families so that they can enjoy a wonderful Lunar New Year (which falls on Feb. 13 this year). Each food bag contained rice, canned food, flour, noodles, lard, soy sauce, bean paste, sugar, tea, aji-no-moto and soap. The presentation was held at the office of the Okinawa Blind Welfare Society (OBWS) in Shuri, Naha on Feb. 10. Mrs. William C. Rhyne (L), welfare chairman of the Club, is shown presenting a food bag to Mr. Shinichi Yamashiro, vice-president of the OBWS while other blind persons smile with food bags in their hands. In addition to food, the blind people were presented by the USCAR Women's Club with 100 tickets for the NHK Symphony Orchestra concert.

Classes of the Women's Course on Home Life are held three times a month at the Naha Ryukyuan-American Cultural Center with the cooperation of the Home Economics Dept., University of the Ryukyus and the USCAR Women's Club.

American women's club representatives, escorted by Miss Masako Oshiro, welfare program specialist, Welfare Div., Health, Education and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR), visited the Naha District Welfare Office, on Dec. 22 to present 100 food baskets to needy families. They also presented toys to 120 children of the Sakura Nursery, 90 children of the Wakaba Nursery, and 220 children of the Okinawa Physically-Handicapped Children's Hospital, and toilet articles to 150 aged persons of the Okinawa Kosei-en Old Folks Home on the same day. The Christmas gifts were donated by the Fort Buckner Officers' Wives Club (FBOWC), Naha Officers' Wives Club (Naha OWC), USCAR Women's Club, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Kadena Officers' Wives Club (KOWC), and the Navy Officers' Wives Club (Navy OWC). In addition to the presentations, the women's clubs recently presented food baskets to 400 needy families; toy baskets to 29 nurseries and child welfare institutions; and toilet articles to three Old Folks homes, in Koza, Nago, Miyako and Yaeyama. Those attending the presentations in the Naha area were Mrs. A. Brown, honorary president, and Mrs. J. Erickson, member, of the Naha OWC; Mrs. E. S. Nuss, welfare chairman, Navy OWC; and Mrs. A. Parker, welfare chairman, KOWC.
