5th Region (Okinawa) Deputy Governor Ichiro Inamine (R, standing), is shown introducing John Toland (L, standing), noted historical novelist and author of the current American best-seller, "The Last 100 Days", as the guest speaker on "living history" and current world affairs at a joint luncheon meeting of the Okinawa, Naha Chuo, and Ginowan Lions clubs, at the Ryukyu Tokyu Hotel, June 1. Seated at left is Mrs. John Toland. At right is Okinawa Lions Club Immediate Past President Kazufumi Uechi. Mr. Toland arrived on Okinawa May 25 for an eight-day visit at the invitation of the Public Affairs Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands. Mr. Toland and his wife left Okinawa June 2 for their home in Tokyo.

現在アメリカでベストセラーの「最後の100日」の著者である氏が「生きた歴史」と現在の世界情勢についてゲストスピーカーとして、6月1日、琉球東急ホテルにて開催された沖縄、那覇中央、宜野湾ライオンズクラブの合同昼食会にて紹介されているところ。左に座っているのはジョン・トーランド夫人。右にいるのは沖縄ライオンズクラブ前会長上地一史氏。トーランド氏は琉球列島米国民政府広報局の招待により、5月25日に沖縄入りし、8日間滞在。トーランド夫妻は6月2日には東京の自宅に帰省。
