Four Ryukyuan nurses are receiving postgraduate training at the U.S. Army Hospital, Camp Kue, under the sponsorship of the U.S. Army Hospital and the Government of the Ryukyu Islands. They are Mrs. Kayoko Hokama, instructor of orthopedics, and Miss Mitsuko Kiyomura, instructor of internal medicine, both of the Koza Nursing School; Miss Yoshie Nagamine, medical supervisor, Naha Nursing School; and Mrs. Chiyoko Asato, Koza Hospital. Mrs. Hokama, Miss Kiyomura and Miss Nagamine began a one-month training on Aug. 6 to coincide with their summer vacation. Mrs. Asato is receiving physiotherapy training at the hospital for six month and, upon completion, she is expected to become an instructor of physiotherapy at the Koza Hospital. The program, 40 hours a week, is designed to help Ryukyuan nurses improve their techniques in the field of nursing so that they can help raise the standards of public health and hygiene in the Ryukyu Islands.
