VISITING WHO OFFICIAL -- Doctor Pier L. Fazzi (2nd from R), representative for the Northwest Pacific Area, World Health Organization (WHO), is shown chatting with Ryukyuan and American medical and health officials at the Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI). Others pictured are (L-R): Kenjun Nakayama, chief, Medical Affairs Div., Dr. Masashi Makabe, chief, Public Health Div. , and Bunsho Gima, director, of the GRI. Welfare Dept; and Col. (Dr.) John P. Fairchild, director, Public Health and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR). Dr. Fazzi arrived Okinawa Feb. 5 to discuss WHO-sponsored training programs for Ryukyuans with GRI, USCAR and University of the Ryukyus officials.
