LEPROSY EXPERTS CONCLUDE VISIT HERE -- Two U.S. Public Health Service specialists (center) held a news conference on June 11 after the completion of a 16-day tour of leprosaria in the Ryukyu Islands to evaluate the Hansen's disease program in the Ryukyus and provide consultation and technical assistance to Government of the Ryukyu Islands public health personnel. Also present were U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands (USCAR) public health officials. Shown L-R: Col. William G. The two specialists, who arrived on Okinawa May 28 at the invitation of USCAR, stressed that the most important aspect in the treatment of leprosy is early diagnosis.
