HEW TEAM ON OKINAWA--A team of specialists from the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare in Washington, which arrived on June 20, are surveying the medical facilities and the problems of health and medical care to determine if the department might aid the Defense Department in various programs of medical care, public health, medical education and rehabilitation in the Ryukyu Islands. The specialists are working closely with Public Health and Welfare Deportment, Office of the High Commissioner, and Special Affairs Department, Government of the Ryukyu Islands. 6月20日に到着した連邦政府米国保健教育福祉省の専門家チーム。医療施設及び健康・医療に関する課題について調査し、琉球列島の医療、公衆衛生、医療教育およびリハビリテーションに関する諸プログラムにおいて、同省が国防省に協力するかどうかを判断するのが目的。調査は高等弁務官事務所保健福祉部や琉球政府特務部と密接に進められている。那覇保健所予防医学部長のウエハラ・シンコウ氏と打ち合わせをする職業リハビリテーション局代表フィリップ・シェーファー氏、看護顧問ヘイゼル・A・ショータル氏、ワシントンから病院部副部長のガブリエル・フェラゾーノ氏、保健部長のチャールズ・ブランケンシップ博士、技師ラッセル・W・ハート氏（左から右）。ブランケンシップ博士、ショータル女史、ハート氏、シェーファー氏は全員、保健教育福祉省サンフランシスコ地域事務所から来た。
