Deputy Civil Administrator Edward E. Bennett (L) presents a certificate of achievement to Thomas H. Baker, chief, Scholarship and Training Division, Health, Education and Welfare Department, U.S. Civil Administration, in recognition of "his extremely valuable service to the United States and to the people of the Ryukyu Islands" during the period April 1967 to September 1969. In presenting the certificate, Deputy Civil Administrator Bennett said, "Mr. Baker's dedication, leadership and guidance have resulted in over 500 local students and other members of the Ryukyuan community receiving formal technical, undergraduate and graduate-level training in the United States, and in European schools under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization," Mr. Baker is scheduled to leave Okinawa Sept. 29 for a new assignment at Fort Rucker, Alabama. 【和訳】 功績に対して 琉球列島米国民政府エドワード・E・ベネット副民政官 (左) は、1967年4月から1969年9月までの期間、米国と琉球の人々に対し貢献したとして、厚生教育局奨学研修部門長トーマス・H・ベイカー氏に対し業績証明書を贈った。ベネット副民政官は、ベイカー氏の献身的な指導により500人以上の琉球の学生や地域のメンバー達が、米国での学部や大学院レベルの研修や世界保健機関の後援によりヨーロッパの学校で正式な技術を学んだと、その功績を称えた。ベイカー氏はアラバマ州フォートラッカーへ赴任のため9月29日に沖縄を離れる。 【分類】Awards / 賞
