Shukuju Arakaki, director, Police Dept., Government of the Ryukyu Islands, pins insigne of the honorary rank of senior superintendent of the GRI police on Maj. Gen. Karl W. Gustafson, Provost Marshal General, U.S. Army. The presentation was made April 28 at an informal ceremony at the Public Safety Dept., USCAR. Gen. Gustafson was in Okinawa for a three-day inspection tour of Army facilities. Mr. Arakaki said in a letter of commendation, "As Provost Marshal General of the United States Army you and officers of the Military Police Corps have meritoriously contributed to the promotion of police administration and in the maintenance of law and order within the U.S. military services and in the civilian communities in the Ryukyu Islands.
【和訳】 琉球警察名誉警視正の称号
米国陸軍憲兵隊総司令官カール・W・ガスタフソン少将に、琉球警察名誉警視正の称号と表彰状を与える琉球政府警察局長新垣淑重氏。称号の贈呈は、4月28日、民政府公安局で非公式に行われた。新垣局長は、表彰状の中で、ガスタフソン少将が「米国陸軍憲兵隊総司令官として琉球列島に於ける陸、海、空軍は勿論のこと、民間相互の治安維持に関する警察行政の促進に多大な貢献と尽力を寄与された」と称えた。
