Parents of Okinawa children who received free violin lessons from Frances Kinker, wife of H. Robert Kinker, director of Education, U.S. Civil Administration, was honored recently at the Naha Cultural Center. Mrs. Kinker is shown receiving an Okinawan samisen (three-stringed instrument) from Mrs. Hideko Miyagi, an elementary school teacher and acting chairman of the children's parents group. Holding a certificate of appreciation presented to Mrs. Kinker by the parents and the Naha Cultural Center is Samuel N. Mukaida, chief of USCAR's cultural affairs division.
