Eight Ryukyuan public works and utility officials called on Civil Administrator Gerald Warner (5th from R) prior to their departure for the United States on April 25 for training in administrative and technical programs. They were accompanied by Col. Harrington W. Cochran (5th from L), director, Public Works Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands (USCAR). The mission was arranged by USCAR under its annual Ryukyuan National Leader Program, one of ten continuing technical training programs in Okinawa's economic, cultural, political, and social fields sponsored by or cooperated in by USCAR. 【和訳】 行政および技術プログラムの研修のため4月25日の渡米に先立ち、8人の琉球政府職員と公益事業当局者が、ジェラルド・ワーナー民政官 (右から5人目) を表敬訪問した。案内したのは琉球列島米国民政府 (米民政府) 公共事業局局長ハリントン・W・コクラン大佐。研修は恒例の米国民政府の国民指導員計画で渡米するもので、この計画は米民政府が後援、又は協力で行われている政治、経済、文化、社会各分野にわたる10種類の継続的訓練計画の一つである。左から、琉球政府通産局海運課平良恵貴船舶係長、同建設局渡久地政広都市計画課長、琉球電力公社技術部砂川真雄電気技師、琉球水道公社技術部又吉康信主任技師、カクラン大佐、ワーナー民政官、米民政府公益事業局屋良朝一土木技師、琉球政府建設局大嶺朝健土木課長、同局我喜屋宗正建設々計課長、コザ市役所水道課宮城保信下水道係長。
