Civil Administrator Shannon McCune proudly wears the Order of Merit of the National Foundation of the Republic of Korea and displays the accompanying citation which he received on behalf of his late father, Dr. George Shannon McCune. The posthumous decoration, rarely awarded to foreigners, was awarded to Dr. George S. McCune for "his outstanding and distinguished service" to Korea through his "substantial contributions in the fields of education and religion in the Republic of Korea." The Civil Administrator received the award from Premier Kim Hyun-chul of the Republic of Korea on Nov. 11 while Civil Administrator and Mrs. McCune were vacationing in that country.
【和訳】 勲功章
亡くなった父ジョージ・シャノン・マキューン博士に代わり大韓民国国家財団勲功章を授与されて誇らし気なシャノン・マキューン民政官。外国人に授与されることの少ない没後の授与だが、ジョージ・S・マキューン博士の「韓国の教育と宗教の分野における実質的な貢献」を通じて韓国に対する「優れた功績」が評価された。民政官夫妻が休暇で韓国を訪れている間の11月11日、大韓民国キム・ヒョンチョル首相から授与された。
