A check for $290,000 was presented Aug. 28 to Mr. Morisada Tonaki (2nd from L), managing director of the Ryukyu Overseas Emigration Corp. by U.S. Civil Administrator Shannon McCune (L), for transportation of Ryukyuan emigrants to Bolivia. Another $510,000 will be used in Bolivia for purchasing construction and farming equipment and machinery, construction of roads and bridges, construction of water facilities and construction and equipping a 20-bed hospital for Ryukyuan emigrants' colony in Bolivia. The money was provided to the U.S. Agency for International Development by the U.S. Congress. Watching the presentation are Mr. Hiroshi Senaga (2nd from R), deputy chief executive of the Government of the Ryukyu Islands, and Mr. Kei Kubagawa (R), director of the Economic Dept., GRI.
