Seven departing members of the 196th Ordnance Battalion, 2nd Logistical Command (2nd Log Cmd. ) were presented letters of appreciation by Chokei Kochi (5th from L), director, Police Dept., Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI), May 14. The presentation was made at Kochi's office, attended by Lt. Col. Milton I. Forgel (4th from L), battalion commander, and John M. Ohira (R), public safety officer, Public Safety Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus. The recipients are (at left side, L-R) M/Sgt. Carl E. Morgan, SFC Edward T. Jordan, and SFC Charles D. Ball; (at right side, L-R) Maj. James L. Hyink, SFC Ray H. Greenwood, Sp/6 Robert B. Rudasill, and Sp/5 Clarence Gelinskey. The police department cited the men for "tremendously contributing toward the prevention of accidents and protection of lives of the Ryukyuan people especially by working closely together with Ryukyuan police ... in highly efficient efforts in eliminating shells under extremely dangerous conditions." 【和訳】 5月14日、第2米軍軍需司令部第196武器大隊の出発メンバー7名は、幸地長恵警察局長 (左から5番目、琉球政府警察)から感謝状を授与された。感謝状の授与は幸地長恵警察局長の事務所で行われ、ミルトン・I・フォーゲル氏 (左から4番目大隊司令官)及びジョン・M・オオヒラ氏 (右、琉球列島米国民政府公安局公安官)が出席した。参加者は(左側列、左から)カール・E・モーガン曹長、エドワード・T・ジーダン一等軍曹、チャールス・D・ボール一等軍曹、(右側列、左から)ジェムス・L・ヒンク少佐、レイ・H・グリーンウッド一等軍曹、ロバート・B・ルダシル特技兵、クロレンス・ゲリンスキ特技兵、「同隊員達は警察局と緊密に連携し、非常に危険な状況の中で、非常に効率的に砲弾を排除し、事故防止と国民の生命保護に多大な貢献をした 」と評価した。 【分類】Police & Fire Departments / 警察署および消防署
