Orville Rholl (3rd from R), Ginowan Lions Club president, is shown presenting the key to a new station wagon to Dr. Shinko Uehara (3rd from L), chief, Preventive Medicine Section, Welfare Dept., Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI). The Lions Club donated the station wagon to aid the GRI examination team involved in testing school-age children in the long-range anti-trachoma program jointly sponsored by the U.S. Civil Administration (USCAR) and GRI in cooperation with the U.S. Army, Ryukyu Islands (USARYIS), The presentation was made at the Lions' regular monthly meeting at the Ryukyu Tokyu Hotel on Jan. 26; also pictured are (L-R): Capt. Carter L. Marshall, preventive medicine officer, and Capt. Winston H. Sun, welfare officer, who are both of the Public Health and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil administration of the Ryukyu Islands (USCAR); and Daniel R. Buck, zone chairman, Region 5, District 302-W7, and William E. Matchett Jr., vice president, both of the Ginowan Lions.
【和訳】 琉球政府にステーションワゴンを寄贈した宜野湾ライオンズクラブ
宜野湾ライオンズクラブ委員長のオーヴィル・ロール氏が琉球政府厚生局予防課々長上原信考博士(左から3番目)に新車のステーションワゴンのカギを贈った。車は学童の検眼を行っている琉球政府の医療関係職員に対する援助として贈られた。この計画は在琉米陸軍の協力を得て琉球列島米国民政府及び琉球政府が共同で行っているものである。贈呈式は1月26日琉球東急ホテルで開かれた同クラブ定例会で行われた。写真は左から琉球列島米国民政府公衆衛生福祉局予防医学担当官カーター・L・マーシャル大尉、同じく福祉担当官ウィンストン・H・サン大尉、国際ライオンズクラブ302W7地区リージョン5委員長ダニエル・R・バック氏、及び同クラブ副会長ウィリアム・E・マーチュト氏。
