WORKSHOP MEETING -- Arnold Fromme (R), Tenor trombone, of the American Brass Quintet, chats with Ryukyuan music students at a workshop held April 20 at the Kamihara Junior High School in Naha. The quintet, one of America's outstanding chamber music ensembles, performed concerts at the Okinawa Times Hall in Naha on April 19 and the Kubasaki High School Auditorium on April 20. The quintet's tour of the Far East and Pacific is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State under its cultural presentation program. The group left for Hong Kong April 21 to continue its tour of Far Eastern and Pacific countries and areas.

4月20日に那覇市の神原中学校で開催されたワークショップで、琉球の学生と話をするアメリカン・ブラス・クインテットのテナートローンボーン奏者、アーノルド・フロム（右）。アメリカを代表する室内楽アンサンブルの一つである同五重奏団は、4月19日に那覇の沖縄タイムスホールで、4月20日にはクバサキ・ハイスクール講堂でコンサートを行った。同五重奏団の極東および太平洋地域ツアーは、.米国務省の文化交流事業の一環として支援されている。一行は4月21日、ツアーのため香港へ向けて出発した。
