Col. H. N. Gilbert, acting chairman of the Community Relations Committee in the Naha and Urasoe Area, and Buntaro Shinyashiki, president, Okinawa High School Athletic Association, are shown looking at a champion-ship trophy donated by High Commissioner F. T. Unger, at the opening ceremony of the seventh annual Ryukyuan-American High School Friendship Soccer League, held Sept. 30 at Oroku Senior High School. A total of 19 teams will play for the championship trophy until Nov. 11. The league is sponsored by U.S. Army, Ryukyu Islands (USARYIS), Ryukyuan-American cultural centers, the Okinawa Senior High School Athletic Association, Okinawa Soccer Association, 'People-to-People Sports Committee and Fort Buckner Special Services. The league is assisted by the Okinawa Recreation Welfare Fund, USARYIS. The 1966 champion was the Oroku team, the runner-up was the Kogyo team.
【和訳】琉米高校サッカーリーグ

9月30日に那覇の小禄高校で行われた第7回琉米高校親善サッカーリーグ開会式で、フレデリック・T・アンガー高等弁務官から寄贈された優勝トロフィーを見つめる地域関係委員会の那覇・浦添地区代理委員長 H・N・ギルバート大佐と、沖縄高校体育協会会長の新屋敷文太郎。優勝トロフィーをめぐり、合計19チームが11月11日まで試合を≪行う。このリーグ戦は在沖米陸軍司令部、琉米各文化会館、沖縄高等学校体育協会、沖縄サッカー協会、親善スポーツ委員会、及びホート・バクナー・スペシャルサービス部の後援で資金援助は在沖米陸軍司令部娯楽福祉基金によって行われている。昨年度の優勝チームは小禄高校チーム、二位は工業高校チームであった。≫
