RYUKYUS' MUSEUM TREASURES will be housed in this expertly-designed modern museum to be constructed with U.S. assistance in the vicinity of the University of the Ryukyus campus on Shuri Hill. The design is the result of a cooperative effort by Ryukyuan architects, Government of the Ryukyu islands' educational and cultural officials, and Mr. Gerald Ober, museum designer of the U.S. Department of Interior who arrived here May 31 at the invitation of the Office of the High Commissioner of the Ryukyus. He displayed the plans for the the structure at a news conference on June 23 and left for San Francisco, via Tokyo, on the same day. The plans for the museum complex include air-conditioned, typhoon and fire-resistant indoor exhibition and display halls as well as an auditorium for museum lecturers, slide and motion picture presentations, and a garden court in the center of the building for outdoor displays.

琉球の博物館収蔵品は首里の丘にある琉球大学のキャンパス近辺に、米国の援助で建設される近代的な博物館に収められる予定。この優れた設計は、琉球の建築家、琉球政府の教育・文化関係者、そして高等弁務官室の招きで5月31日に来沖した米国内務省の博物館設計者ジェラルド・オバー氏の協力によるものである。オバー氏は6月23日の記者会見でこの建物の設計図を披露し、同日、東京を経由して≪サンフランシスコ向け出発した。設計によるとエア・コンディション装置、防風及び防火ドア付きの展示ホール、博物館講師、スライド及び映画上映の為の講堂、又、建物の中央部には外部展示の為のガーデンコートがある。≫
