Mrs. Lampert delivers a congratulatory speech at the 20th anniversary ceremonies of the Okinawa Nurses Association. ≪沖縄看護婦業界の創立20周年記念式典で祝辞を述べているランパート夫人。≫
The Okinawa Nurses Association held its 20th anniversary ceremonies at the Ryukyu Shimpo Hall in Naha on April 9. The ceremonies were attended by some 400 nurses and guests, including Mrs. James B. Lampert, wife of the High Commissioner; Dr. (col.) Robert T. Jansen, director, Health, Education and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus; Dr. Fumio Yamakawa, director, Welfare Dept., Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI); and Koshin Nakayama, director, Education Dept., GRI. In her speech, Mrs. Lampert praised the Okinawan nurses for their competence, industriousness and devotion to their noble cause. She said, "I am especially proud that the United States was able to assist this association in its earlier years through the pioneering efforts of the late Mrs. Juanita Watterworth and Mrs. Josephine Kazer. And I am happy to note also that the USCAR staff and the nurses of the U.S. Army Hospital at Camp Kue have continued to assist you in your endeavors. Such mutual support and assistance is in keeping with a profession that transcends international boundaries". ≪沖縄看護婦協会の創立20周年記念式典が4月9日、那覇市内の琉球新報ホールでジェームス・B・ランパート高等弁務官夫人、ロバート・T・ジェンスン米国民政府厚生教育局長、山川文雄琉球政府厚生局長、中山興真琉球政府文教局長等、約400人の来賓や看護婦が出席して催された。ランパート夫人はこの式典で祝辞を述べ、沖縄の看護婦の方々の能力、勤勉さ、及び崇高な目的を目ざして専念していることを称賛した。更に同夫人は「今は故人となりましたジュアニタ・ワーターワース夫人、及びジョセフィン・ケイザー夫人が率先的に努力し、この沖縄看護婦協会の設立に米国が援助することができましたことを特に誇りに思っています。これまで継続的に皆様を援助して来られたことを知り心から喜んでいます。このような相互補助を通して国境を越えた職業のつながりができるのであります」と語った。≫
