NEW WING AT CENTRAL HOSPITAL -- The first and second floors of the new wing at the Okinawa Central Hospital in Gushikawa are now under construction at a total cost of $648,300, of which the United States has provided $362,301 and tGovernment of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI), $286,000. These floors will have an out-patient clinic, now almost completed, and intern quarters and a medical library, scheduled for completion in December 1967. The GRI is expected to provide funds in FY 1968 for construction of the third and fourth floors which will be devoted to patients' wards. Opened in March 25, 1966, the hospital's bed capacity stands at 216 and is scheduled to increase to 400 upon completion of the new wing in 1968-1969.
