CONGRATULATORY SPEECH -- Col. (Dr.) John P. Fairchild, (L), director, Public Health and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus, is shown congratulating 22 graduating students of the Koza Nursing School on their successful completion of three years of training in nursing. In his speech at the commencement ceremony on Mar. 1, Col. Fairchild said: "there is lots to be done in the field of nursing and your willingness to work at your profession is greatly appreciated by the community. You will provide services based on human need, with respect for human dignity." Interpreting for Col. Fairchild is Miss Masako Shimabukuro, public health nurse at his office. The school has graduated 800 nurses since it was opened in 1949. 【和訳】祝辞 - 米国民政府公衆衛生福祉局長ジョン・P・フェアチャイルド大佐(左)は、コザ看護学校において、3年間の看護実習を修めた22名の学生に祝辞をのべた。3月1日の同校卒業式の冒頭、大佐は「看護とは激務であり、そこに従事しようとするあなた方の意思は地域から大いに感謝されるだろう。人の尊厳を重んじ、必要とされる職務にあたってほしい」と激励した。通訳は、同局のシマブクロ・マサコ公衆衛生看護婦。コザ看護学校は1949年の創立以来、800名の看護婦を送り出している。
