RECOVERING THEROUGH REHABILITATION TRAINING--■■■, 28, of ■■■ Hirara City, Miyako is receiving rehabilitation training on how to handle his special, wheelchair and care for himself at the Okinawa Central Hospital (OCH). He suffered from the "bends" in July 1966 while he was fishing under water in Miyako. From the outset he suffered complete paralysis of his legs and bowel and bladder function. Dr. Yukihito Kishimoto, orthopedist, is treating the patient, and Dr. Sara Gault, physiatrist with the University of Hawaii advisory group at OCH, is the consultant on the case. As a result of the training, Mr. ■■■ learned to move himself without help from his bed to the wheelchair. Funds for the chair were donated last February by the Ginowan Lions Club of Okinawa and ordered from the United States by the U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus. The wheelchair has removable arm rests and detachable leg rests which greatly increase the versatility and usefulness of the chair for Mr. ■■■ needs. ≪平良市字狩俣■■■番地の■■■さん（28才）は中部病院で特製車椅子の操作方法や自活するための更生訓練を受けている。■■■さんは1966年7月潜水中潜水病にかかり、それ以来両脚、腸、及びぼうこうの機能が麻ひした。■■■さんはサラ・ゴールト医師及び岸本医師（整形外科）の指示と治療を受けている。訓練の結果、■■■さんは自力でベットから車椅子に移動できるようになった。宜野湾ライオンズクラブは去る2月■■■さんのため車椅子の購入費を寄付した。その車椅子は米国民政府が米国からとりよせたもので、■■■さんにとって一層便利なように製作されている。≫
