Thirty-seven Koza Nursing School senior students are attending a 16-hour observation and training course in eye, ear, nose and throat (EENT) treatments at the U.S. Army Hospital (USAH) at Camp Kue, Okinawa. The training was arranged by the USAH in response to a request from the nursing school through the Health, Education and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus. Presently, the Government of the Ryukyu Islands' hospitals are not equipped to provide EENT training, a requirement for the graduation of nursing students. The students are to graduate in March. They are receiving the training under the supervision of Dr. (Maj.) David J. Chizek and Dr. (Capt.) Vernon M. Hermsen, ophthalmologists, and Dr. (Maj.) Henry B. Bikhazi, otorhinolaryngologist, all of the Army Medical Corps. ≪来る3月に卒業する予定のコザ看護学校学生37人が、北谷村のキャンプ桑江在米陸軍病院で耳鼻咽喉科と眼科に関する16時間の研修を受けている。同研修はコザ看護学校が米国民生府厚生教育局を通して要請し、米陸軍病院の好意により実現したものである。耳鼻咽喉科と眼科の訓練は、看護学生が卒業するための必須科目であるが、現在、琉球政府立病院にはこの訓練を行う設備がない。研修員は米陸軍医療隊のデイビッド・J・チゼック医師（少佐）、バーノン・M・ハームセン医師（大尉）、およびヘンリー・B・ビカージ医師（少佐）の指導のもとで研修を受けている。チゼック少佐とハームセン大尉は耳鼻咽喉科の専門医で、ビカージ―少佐は眼科の専門医である。≫
