YOZA VILLAGE DEDICATES SEWERAGE FACILITIES -- Yoza village in Gushichan Son, southern Okinawa, formerly dedicated its new $20,578 rural sewerage facilities at a ceremony held on April 18. The High Commissioner's Fund for Special Assistance to Municipalities provided $11,000 and the villagers themselves provided $9,578 in cash and labor toward the construction of the system serving each of the village's 46 households. Each sanitary facility consists of a water seal, semi-flush commode with concrete masonry shelter, a three-compartment anaerobic treatment tank and a shallow concrete oxidation pond. The plan for the facilities was a modification of a World Health Organization plan. ≪具志頭村与座区全戸の簡易水洗便所が、総工費20,578弗でさきほど完成、4月18日落成式が行われた。工費資金は高等弁務官地域社会特別援助資金から11,000弗で、地元側は現金及び労務で9,578弗相当を負担した。各戸の簡易水洗便所はコンクリート建てで、トラップ、簡易水洗便器、三槽式腐敗タンク及び酸化池がとりつけられている。この簡易水洗便所は世界保健機構(WHO)の図面を米民政府が地元に適したものにデザインしたもの。≫ 【和訳】
