Dr. John I. Bruce, parasitologist and chief, and Yoshimasa Hishinuma, chief laboratory technician, both of the Walter Reed Composite Drug Screening Unit, 406th Medical Laboratory in Camp Zama, Japan, conducted lectures and demonstrations for Okinawan laboratory technicians from March 13 to 19 on methods of stool and parasite examinations, preparation of permanent samples, and identification of parasites. The specialists came to Okinawa at the invitation of the U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR), in response to a request from the Okinawa Anti-Parasite Association (OAPA). The lectures and demonstrations were held at OAPA's Endemic Disease Center for personnel of the OAPA and the Okinawa Laboratory Technicians Association and students of the University of the Ryukyus' College of Health Sciences. Dr. Bruce conducted similar lectures on Okinawa in March 1970. ≪日本本土にあるキャンプ座間在第406医療研究所ウォルター・リード混成薬剤審査課のジョン・I・ブルース課長（理学博士）及び菱沼良正主任検査技師が3月13日から19日まで、沖縄寄生虫予防協会の風土病センターで同予防協会や沖縄検査技師協会の会員及び琉球大学保健学部の学生を対象に検便法、寄生虫検査法、永久標本の作製、及び寄生虫の鑑別等に関する講演やデモンストレーションを行った。両氏の来島は沖縄寄生虫予防協会の要請にもとづき米国民政府の招きによるものである。なお、ブルース博士は去年の3月にも講演を行った。≫
