PUBLIC HEALTH CONVENTION -- The Okinawa Public Health Association (OPHA) held its first convention at the Ryukyu Life Insurance Co. Building at Matsuo, Naha, on Feb. 28 and March 1. The convention was attended by Dr. (Col.) Robert T. Jensen, director of the Health, Education and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus, representing High Commissioner James B. Lampert; Chief Executive Chobyo Yara of the Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI); and some 300 public health personnel. Pictured are (L-R) Dr. Enjiro Toda, internist, Airaku-en Leprosarium; Donald Johnson, health educator, World Health Organization Regional Office for the Western Pacific; Dr. John R. Trautman, director, U.S. Public Health Service in Carville , La.; Dr. Shigeo Iha, chief, Public Health Div., GRI Welfare Dept.; and Dr. Jensen. Mr. Johnson lectured on "Community Activity in Public Health" on Feb. 2 , and Dr. Trautman, on "International Aspects of Leprosy and World Leprosy Week" on March 1, at the OPHA-sponsored Science Congress. ≪公衆衛生大会--第一回沖縄公衆衛生大会が2月28日から2日間、那覇市内の琉球生命ビルでジェームス・B・ランパート高等弁務官代理として、米国民政府厚生教育局々長ロバート・T・ジェンスン医師(大佐)、屋良朝苗行政主席、および約300人の公衆衛生関係者が出席して催された。写真は左から戸田圓二郎医師（愛楽園）、ドナルド・ジョンソン保健教育官（西太平洋地域世界保健機構）、ジョン・R・トラウトマン所長（ルイジアナ州カービル市在米国公衆衛生センター）、伊波茂雄公衆衛生部長（琉球政府厚生局）、ジェンスン医師。ジョンソン氏は2月28日、同大会の公衆衛生学会で「地域社会における公衆衛生活動」、またトラウトマン所長は3月1日「ハンセン氏病の国際的状況とハンセン氏病予防週間」と題してそれぞれ講演を行った。≫
