CONGRATULATORY SPEECH -- Dr. (Col.) Robert T. Jensen (L), director of the Health, Education and Welfare Dept. (HEW), U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR), delivers a congratulatory speech at a ceremony dedicating the University of the Ryukyus' Health Sciences College Classroom Building Yogi, Naha, on Sept. 28. At right is Frank F. Nomura, interpreter, HEW, USCAR. In his speech, Dr. Jensen said the occasion "marks a most significant step in the development of facilities for the education of health manpower". He added that the College of Health Sciences will train many of the different categories of health workers essential for the health care and environmental sanitation programs in the Ryukyus and for the training of doctors and other highly skilled medical specialists on Okinawa. The college building was constructed at a total cost of $740,955, of which $576,700 was provided by the Government of Japan, and $164,255 by the Government of the Ryukyu Islands. ≪祝辞--写真はロバート・T・ジェンスン米国民政府厚生教育局々長（左）が9月28日那ハ市与儀にある琉球大学保健学部新校舎の落成式で祝辞を述べているところ。右側はフランク・F・ノムラ同局通訳官。ジェンスン局長は祝辞の中で「この新校舎落成式は、保健関係に携わる人材を養成する教育施設の発展をはかる上において最も意義深いことであります。琉球大学保健学部は、沖縄における保健業務や環境衛生計画になくてはならない色々な分野の保健関係事業に従事する人達を教育するためのものであり、また医者やその他の高度な医療専門家を養成するためのものであります。」と語った。同保健学部の総工費は740,955ドルでそのち576,700ドルは日本政府援助で、残り164,255ドルは琉球政府負担。≫
