COURTESY CALL -- Four Ryukyuan physicians working with government hospitals called on Col. (Dr.) John P. Fairchild (R) director, Health, Education and Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR), June 1 before departing for further studies at the East-West Center, Honolulu in Hawaii. Pictured are (L-R): Masato Sunakawa, surgeon, Miyako Hospital; Yusuke Nohara, pathologist, Naha Hospital; Yakeshi Yabiku, surgical resident, and Masakazu Yamauchi, deputy director and surgeon, both of the Okinawa Central Hospital. The four-month program for the physicians is jointly sponsored by the Institute for Technical Interchange of the center and USCAR, with the cooperation of the Government of the Ryukyu Islands and three medical institutions in Hawaii. They will study American medical practices, hospital management and administration practices, and current medical information and knowledge in the various specialties.
【和訳】表敬訪問 - 琉球政府の病院で働く4人の医師がハワイ州ホノルルの東西センターでの研修の出発に先立ち6月1日、米国民政府厚生教育局長ジョン・P・フェアチャイルド大佐（右）を表敬訪問した。（左から）宮古病院外科医スナカワ・マサト、那覇病院病理医ノハラ・ユウスケ、中部病院外科研修医ヤビク・ヤケシと同病院副院長で外科医ヤマウチ・マサカズ。4カ月の医師の研修≪計画は琉球政府及びハワイの3つの医療施設の協力を得て東西文化センター技術交流研究所の共同主催によって行われるものである。一行はアメリカの医療制度、病院管理と行政、及びそれぞれの専門分野における新しい医学知識について研究する。≫
