LECTURE ON THERAPY -- Donald E. Shipley (L), physiotherapist, and Mrs. Helen G. Wood (R), occupational therapist, both of the U.S. Public Health Service, Carville, Louisiana, are shown lecturing on physical and occupational therapy for the staff of the Naha Hospital at its conference room May 7. Interpreting for them is Miss Yoko Tokorotani (C), Ryukyuan physiotherapist with the University of Hawaii advisory group at the Okinawa Central Hospital, Gushikawa. The two American therapists arrived April 29 at the invitation of the U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus and the Government of the Ryukyu Islands. They will be here until May 29. The purpose of their visit is to orient staff and para-medical personnel at the two Ryukyuan leprosaria and other medical institutions through lectures and demonstrations.
【和訳】療法についての講義 - 5月7日に米ルイジアナ州カービル在米国公衆衛生局の理学療法士ドナルド・E・シプリー（左）と作業療法士ヘレン・G・ウッド夫人（右）が那覇病院の会議室で、理学療法および作業療法について職員に講義した。通訳は具志川の中部病院のハワイ大学顧問団に≪勤めている沖縄の物理療法師所谷洋子さん（中央）。米国の療法専門官は米国民政府及び琉球政府の招待で5月7日に来島し、5月29日まで沖縄に滞在する。一行は講義及び実地を通して愛楽園、南西園及びその他の医療施設スタッフに指導助言するために来島したものである。≫
