GRI MEDICAL LIBRARY RECEIVES NEW BOOKS -- Shown looking through some of the books which are part of a newly-arrived shipment of over one ton of medical texts and reference books and professional medical journals are Garland J. Moore (L), hospital administrator, Public Health & Welfare Dept., U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands (USCAR); and Kenjun Nakayama, chief, Medical Affairs Division, Welfare Dept., Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI). The books came from Hawaii; most were donated to GRI by the Hawaii Medical Library and some were donated by Kuakini Hospital both in Honolulu. The books were formally installed in the GRI Medical Library, located in Yogi, Naha, June 22. This library is housed in a newly-constructed building financed in fiscal year 1964 with almost $75,000 in Government of Japan economic aid funds. The GRI Medical Library is scheduled to be finished and opened to the medical community of the Ryukyus by the end of July. 【和訳】琉球政府立医学図書館に新しい蔵書 - 到着したばかりの1トンを超える医学書、参考書、医学専門誌のうちの一部に目を通しているのは、米国民政府公衆衛生福祉局病院管理官ガーランド・J・ムーア(左)と琉球政府厚生局医務部長ナカヤマ・ケンジュン。そのほとんどはハワイ医学図書館から琉球政府に寄贈されたもので、一部はホノルル市のクアキニ病院から寄贈された。図書は6月22日に那覇市与儀にある琉球政府立医学図書館に正式に収められた。この図書館は1964 年度に日本政府の経済援助資金約75,000ドルで新築された建物内にある。琉球政府立医学図書館は7月末までに完成し、琉球の医療関係者に開放される予定。
