INTERNSHIP TRAINING -- Dr. Lowell M. Wiese (3nd from R), pediatrician and a member of the advisory staff from the University of Hawaii, examines a babypatient during a postgraduate medical training program at the Okinawa Cral Hospital in Gushikawa. At left are Asahiro Uezu, an intern in the training program, and Seibin Shikina, pediatrician, a staff instructor at the hospital. The training program, conducted by the university under contract with the U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands, is the first such program in the Ryukyus and will comply with the highest standards in Japan and the United States. Graduates will qualify for medical licenses in the Ryukyus as well as in Japan.
【和訳】研修医実習 - 具志川の中部病院での研修医実習で、赤ちゃんを診察するハワイ大学顧問団ローウェル・M・ウィーゼ小児科医（右から２人目）。左は実習に参加しているウエズ・アサヒロ研修医と、同病院小児科医識名盛敏指導員。米国民政府との契約に基づきハワイ大学が実施するこの医学実習は琉球では初めてのものであり、日米の最高水準のものである。修了後は日本本土と同様に琉球でも医師免許取得資格が得られる。
