TWELVE MOSQUITO LIGHT TRAPS, purchased with a U.S. grant from the special Japanese ''B" encophalitis budget, were presented to the Government of the Ryukyus (GRI) by the Office of the High Commissioner on July 11. These light traps will be placed in the key areas throughout the Ryukyu Islands to collect adult mosquitos for entomological laboratory study. Giving instruction on operation of the traps to Keifuku Nakamoto (R), sub-section chief, welfare Dept., GRI, is Capt. Carl Pace, sanitary engineer, Public Health and Welfare Dept., Office of the High Commissioner.
【和訳】蚊取り器具12個を琉球政府へ 7月11日、米国の日本脳炎特別予算からの助成を受けて購入した12個のライトトラップ捕獲器が、高等弁務官事務所から琉球政府(GRI)へ贈呈された。ライトトラップは、琉球列島の各要所に設置され蚊の成虫を捕獲する。捕獲した虫は昆虫学研究所の研究に使われる。ナカモト・ケイフク福祉部副部長(右)にトラップの操作方法を説明する高等弁務官事務所保健福祉部衛生技師のカール・ペイス少佐(右)。
