$60,000 WORTH OF EXCESS MEDICAL supplies and equipment of the U.S. Army in the Ryukyus, a donation from High Commissioner Paul W. Caraway, was presented to the Government of the Ryukyu Islands today, Jan. 31. The donation was in keeping with the High Commissioner's interest in the health and welfare of the people of the Ryukyu Islands. The $60,000 presentation was transported in three huge U.S. Army semi-trailers. Listed as excess to the needs of the U.S. army here, all supplies and equipment were new and of the highest quality. Lt. Col. Roy A. Highsmith, Director, Public Health and Welfare Dept., Office of the High Commissioner ( C ), representing the High Commissioner, transferred to supplies, equipment and inventory list to Government of the Ryukyu Islands Welfare Dept. officials Masuaki Kinjo, (2nd from L), Director; Kenjun Nakayama, Chief, Medical Affairs Section (L); and Akira Ikema, Chief, Pharmaceutical Affairs Section (2nd from R).
