FLOOD DAMAGE INSPECTION -- Ryukyuan-American survey team Oct. 9 surveyed the damage at Tonaki Island which was hit by heavy winds and floods on Oct. 4 -7. Inspecting a flooded dwelling at Tonaki are (L-R) Ryukyu Legislator Shochi Ota, Masaharu Gima, welfare officer, Welfare Section, Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI), Tonaki-Son Mayor Heisaburo Hisahara, Maj. Joseph H. Rapp, chief, Welfare Div., Health, Education and Welfare Dept. (HEW), U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR), Ansei Miyagi, a member of the GRI Agriculture and Forestry Dept., and Yoshitaka Kakazu, AID program specialist, USCAR's HEW. The team aboard a U.S. Marine helicopter transported 64 blankets, purchased with the USCAR typhoon disaster relief fund, to Tokashiki Island.
