Deputy Civil Administrator Edward E. Bennett presents a Meritorious Service Medal to Maj. Gerald F. Trainer, outgoing administrative officer, Administration Office, U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus, at a ceremony held Sept. 25 at the USCAR conference room. Major Trainer was cited for sustained superior performance of duty during the period of September 1968 to September 1970. The citation said, "Major Trainer applied his very capable and knowledgeable administrative ability to the establishment of improved procedures to better control the voluminous flow of important correspondence through USCAR." Maj. Trainer left Okinawa on Sept. 27 for the United States to attend the Adjutant General School at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind., after which be will report to Hq., MACV for his second tour in South Vietnam. Major Trainer entered the U.S. Army as a private in I960, graduated from Officers [Condidate?] School, and then served in various installations in the U.S. before his assignment to USCAR in 1968.

琉球列島米国民政府エドワード・E・ベネット副民政官から9月25日、前総務局行政官ジェラルド・F・トレイナー少佐に勲功章が授与された。1968年9月から1970年9月までの期間の業績を評価されたもの。「米民政府の膨大な重要報告をより良くコントロールすることに彼の非常に有能で知識豊富な能力が助けになった」と称えた。少佐は2度目の南ベトナム視察の報告を南ベトナム軍事援助司令部にした後、米国インディアナ州フォート・ベンジャミンハリソン基地高級副官学校への赴任のため9月27日に沖縄を離れる。少佐は1960年に二等兵として米陸軍入隊、幹部候補生学校を卒業後は米国内でさまざまな軍事施設勤務を経て、1968年に米民政府に配属された。
