Tokusuke Arakaki chief, Police Headquarters, Government of the Ryukyu Islands, presents a letter of appreciation to S/Sgt. Richard W. Stickle, 5th EOD Sec., 196th Ordinance Battalion, 2nd Logistical Command, U.S. Army Ryukyu Islands, at his office, Feb. 4. At left is Lt. Ronald P. Thompson. EOD staff officer. Sgt. Stickle was thanked for his contribution to "the prevention of accidents and protection of lives of the Ryukyuan people" by working closely together with the police dept., during the period July 1967 to February 1970. His duties included disposal of World War II shells under extremely dangerous conditions.
【和訳】 新垣徳助警本部長は、2月4日、在沖米陸軍第二兵たん部隊第196オーデナンス大隊第5弾薬処理班のリチャード・W・スティクル二等軍曹に感謝状を手渡した。左側は同班のロナルド・P・トンプソン中尉。スティクル軍曹は、1969年7月から1970年2月までの期間中、警察局と連係をとり、不発弾の処理面での同軍曹の功労に対して感謝状が贈られたもの。
