Mr. Malcolm F. Slayter (L), chief of scholarship and training division, Education Dept., the U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus (USCAR) receives a letter of appreciation from Mr. Chojin Zukeran, director, Okinawa Industrial Development Youth Corps. Mr. Slayter will depart Okinawa Sunday, Nov. 26 for reassignment in Washington D. C., He joined USCAR's Comptroller Dept., as an administrative officer in December 1961 and transferred to the Education Dept. in August 1964. Mr. Slater has contributed to the improvement of education in the Ryukyus, especially in the fields of Ryukyuan scholarship and technical training in the United States, the East-West Center Program, and Third Country Training Program. 沖縄産業開発青年隊理事長の瑞慶覧長仁氏から感謝状が贈られる琉球列島米国民政府教育局奨学研修部門長マルコム・F・スレーター氏 。スレーター氏はワシントンD.C.へ赴任するため11月26日に沖縄を離れる予定。同氏は1961年に米民政府計画局の行政官として配属、その後1964年8月に教育局へ異動。特に米国での給付奨学生計画及びその他の技術訓練計画、ハワイの東西文化センター及び第三国訓練計画等、琉球の教育促進のために多大なる貢献をしてきた。
