Dr. (Col.) John P. Fairchild, director, Health, Education and Welfare Dept. (HEW), USCAR, Nov. 26 presented an Army Commendation Medal to Dr. (Capt.) Duane A. Sebahar, departing chief of the Public Health Branch, HEW, USCAR, for "exceptionally meritorious service" during the period July 18, 1967 to Nov. 26, 1968. The citation said that Dr. Sebahar successfully planned, prepared, and coordinated an improved preventive dentistry program and was directly responsible for the successful implementation of a radiation monitoring program by the Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI), and he aided the GRI in selecting and obtaining equipment to be used in the program. Dr. Sebahar is scheduled to depart for the United States on Nov. 26.
【和訳】 退任する米民政府厚生教育局公衆衛生課主任のデュアン・A・シバハール博士 (大尉) に11月26日、同局長ジョン・P・フェアチャイルド博士 (大佐) から、1967年7月18日から1968年11月26日までの期間の功績を称え、殊勲賞が授与された。シバハール博士は予防歯科プログラムの計画作成、改善、調整し、琉球政府による放射線モニタリングプログラムの実施を成功に導いたことや、プログラムで使用される機器の選択と入手を支援したことが評価された。シバハール博士は11月26日に米国へ発つ予定。
