LTC Ronald Ingraham, commander, 33rd Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron, Naha Air Base, received a letter of appreciation and a memento Sept. 13 on behalf of the Squadron for the rescue of 19 Ryukyuan fishermen from their sinking vessel 150 miles south-southeast of Naha on May 22. Morisada Tonakri president, Ryukyu Sea Disaster Relief Association, presented the letter and memento at the annual general meeting of the Association at Okibo hall, Naha. The rescue was made as night was closing in and shortly before the vessel sank in rough seas.
【和訳】 那覇市の南々東150海里の水域で、5月22日遭難した漁船から19名の琉球人漁夫を救助した那覇飛行基地在・第33航空救助中隊に対して贈られた記念品と感謝状を9月13日に受けとる。同隊司令官のロナルド・イングラハム中佐。これは那覇市内オキボウホールでの琉球水難救済会総会で、渡名喜守定会長から贈られた。荒海で日暮の危険な状態な中で、救助活動は行われた。
