A helicopter from the 33rd Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron at Naha Air Base evacuated a seriously-injured patient from Okino Erabu Island located 50 miles north of Okinawa, Oct. 1. Shown carrying the patient at Naha Air Base are Sgt. Billy Davidson, pararescueman; Sgt. D. A. Loy, crew chief; and Sgt. Dave Gartam, crew chief. The patient, ■■■, 23, of Okino Erabu-Son, Oshima-Gun, Kagoshima Prefecture, was immediately taken to the Arakawa Surgery Hospital in Naha by Government of the Ryukyu Islands police ambulance. This was the 39th patient evacuated by U.S. Forces' aircraft within or near the Ryukyus this year, under established medical evacuation procedures of the Air Defense Control Center at Naha Air Base, USCAR Public Safety Dept., and the GRI police.
【和訳】 沖永良部島から救急飛行
沖縄本島から北へ縦50哩の沖永良部島から10月1日、交通事故患者を那覇飛行基地在第33航空救助中隊のヘリコプターで運んだ。ヘリから患者を降ろす同中隊の(左から)ビリー・デビドソン二等軍曹(救助兵)、D・A・ロイ軍曹、デーブー・ガータム軍曹。患者は鹿児島県大島郡沖永良部島の男性(23才)で、直ちに琉球政府警察の救急車で那覇市内の新川外科病院に運ばれた。この緊急患者空輸は、那覇飛行基地在防空管制センター、米民政府公安局、琉球政府警察の連繋で実施されているもので、琉球及び近海で米軍機によって運ばれた緊急患者で今年に入って39人目の患者である。
