RDWC DEDICATES NEW OFFICE BUILDING - The Ryukyu Domestic Water Corporation (RDWC) dedicated its new office building in Koza City on Aug. 26 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by American and Ryukyuan officials. Special guest speaker at the ceremony was David H. Ward, Deputy Under Secretary of the Army for International Affairs, who is on an orientation tour of Okinawa. In his address, Mr. Ward congratulated the personnel of RDWC for their "outstanding demonstrations of public service to the Okinawan people." Mr. Ward, High Commissioner James B. Lampert, Acting Civil Administrator Edward E. Bennett, Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRI) Chief Executive Chobyo Yara and RDWC President Hirosada Ohama cut a ribbon at the entrance of the building. The three-story building was built at a total cost of $580,000 funded from RDWC corporate earnings and the U.S. Civil Administration's General Fund. Contractor on the project was Kokuba Gumi; architectual design by the Lyons Associates, Incorporated, of Urasoe.
