MASTER CAPTION:
GROUND-BREAKING CEREMONY was held Aug. 6 for the construction of a new main office building of the Ryukyu Domestic Water Corporation (RDWC) at Yamazato, located opposite the Plaza shopping area. The building, a 650-tsubo, three story, reinforced steel and concrete structure, will be constructed by Kokuba Gumi at a cost of $454,392. It is expected to be completed in June 1970. Inspection services over the construction will be provided by Lyon Associates under the overall administration of the RDWC. Lt. Col. Harry W. Lombard, director, Public Works Dept., United States Civil Administration of the Ryukyus, praised the corporation for its persistent efforts "to provide adequate potable water for all the inhabitants of Okinawa" through the island water system developed thus far at a cost of more than $26 million.

プラザ・ハウス向いのコザ市山里で、8月6日、琉球水道公社の新本部ビルの起工式が行われた。同ビルは、鉄筋コンクリートの三階建で坪数650坪で、國場組が45万4千3百92ドルで請負、来年6月に完成する予定。琉球水道公社の監督のもとに、ライアン・アソシエート社が工事検査を行う。米民政府公益事業局長ハリー・W・ランバート中佐は、起工式で同公社がこれまで2千6百万ドルを投じて開発した全島水道系統により、一貫して住民のために十分な飲料水を供給している事に対して賞讃の言葉を述べた。
