Shown congratulating Naha City on initiating actual sewerage operations in the first of 13 areas of the city which will be tied into the sewerage system. The first portion is in the city's southwestern area, located west of Highway One and south of Tomari, near the main Naha Sewerage Treatment plant. The ceremony was held at Wakasa Elementary School on July 30. The entire system of Naha gravity sewers is being constructed through a three-way cooperative funding arrangement: USCAR providing $2,043,000; the Government of the Ryukyu Islands, $577,000; and Naha City, $97,000.
