LAND RECLAMATION FOR NEW NAHA CIVIL AIR TERMINAL - To meet the projected demands for air traffic in the 1975-1980 period, a Government of the Ryukyu Islands (GRl) multi-million dollar expansion of Naha civil aviation facilities is in full swing with technical and financial aid from the United States and Japan. The second phase of the expansion program - the construction of basic facilities - began on Feb. 16, even as work was being rushed to complete the first phase at the end of February 1971, which is the reclamation of 60 acres (73,440 tsubo) of tidelands north of the existing Naha Civil Air Terminal. The second phase calls for paving of a taxiway and a portion of the aircraft parking apron and construction of a large drainage structure under the taxiway. This work is expected to be completed by July 1971. Like the land reclamation project, the second phase, at a cost of $636,960, will be carried out by Oshiro Gumi Construction Company of Naha under the supervision of the U.S. Army Deputy Division Engineer, West Pacific on behalf of the Government of the Ryukyu Islands. 【和訳】 マスターキャプション
