Ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Okinawa's largest water development project-the Fukuji River dam and reservoir was held July 16.The total cost, $12 million, is being provided by the RDWC and the U.S. government. When completed in April 1972, the reservoir will be the main source for the island water system. Overall supervision and inspection is by the U. S. Army District Engineer, Okinawa on behalf of RDWC. The initial phase of the project will be carried out as a joint venture of AAC and D. R. Kincaid.

沖縄最大の水資源開発プロジェクトの福地ダムと貯水池建設の起工式が7月16日に行われた。建設総費用1,200万ドルは琉球水道公社と米国政府によって賄われる。1972年4月に完成すると全島統合上水道システムの主要な貯水池となる。事業全体の監督と検査は琉球水道公社に代わり在沖米陸軍工兵隊が行い、事業の初期工程はアジア・アメリカン・コンストラクション社と[D.R.]キンケイドの合弁によって行われる。
