Construction of a $10.6 million water pumping-transmission-treatment complex at Ishikawa, is a major step in the RDWC's master plan for the development of Okinawa's northern water resources to provide safe and adequate water to the ever expanding civilian economy in central and southern Okinawa. The Ishikawa plant, the largest in the Ryukyus and heart of the island-wide system, cost $3,053,000, and is capable of treating 30 million gallons of water per day.
