They are among some 100 senior class students from UR, Okinawa University, and Kokusai University who are receiving on-the-job training under the University Summer Work-Study Program jointly, sponsored by the U.S. Army, Ryukyu Islands (USARYIS) and the U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyu Islands (USCAR). 76 Ryukyuan students are receiving training at USARYIS units in the fields of medical depot activities, pathology, veterinary medicine, entomology, data processing, engineering, library science, recreation, crafts, sports, entertainment, rest centers, publicity, comptroller, communications electronics, and personnel management. USCAR is training 31 students in the fields of labor relations, legal research, education, statistics, library science, health and welfare, medical illustrating, translating, and clerical work.
【和訳】 大学生夏季実習計画
彼らは、在沖米陸軍、米民政府が主催する 「大学生夏季実習計画」 の実地研修を受けるため琉球大学、沖縄大学、国際大学から4年次の学生約百人が参加している。在沖米陸軍の核施設では76名の学生が医療、病理、獣医、昆虫学、データ処理、工学、図書館、娯楽、手工芸、スポーツ、演芸、休息所、公報、計画、通信、電子、人事の各分野で学んでいる。米民政府では31名の学生が労働関係、法律調査、教育、統計、図書館、保健福祉、医療用図解、翻訳の各分野で実習を受けている。
