As a part of Ryukyuan-American Friendship Week's activities, Naha Ryukyuan-American Community Relationship Committee placed a wreath on the International Cemetery located on the north shore of Tomari port on Monday, May 27. The cemetery was set aside as a burial ground for foreigners who died in the Nineteenth Century; a number of the members of Commodore Perry's expedition are also buried here. Here Maj. A.B. Cummings (L), director of Administration, U.S. Army Transportation Group, Mr. Junji Nishime (C), mayor of Naha City and Dr. George M. Brooke Jr.(R), a Fulbright research professor at Keio University in Tokyo, are shown placing a wreath on the cemetery. Others in the photo are (L-R): Mr. Samuel H. Kitamura, cultural affairs division, Office of Public Affairs, Office of the High Commissioner, Mr. Jusei Kinjo(C), secretary to Mayor Nishime, and Mr. Sotoku Furugen, deputy mayor of the Naha City.

琉米親善週間の活動の一環として、那覇琉米地域関係委員会は、5月27日(月)、泊港北岸にある外人墓地に花輪を献花した。墓地は19世紀に死亡した外国人の埋葬地として設けられた。ペリー提督の遠征隊の隊員の多くもここに埋葬されている。A・B・カミングス少佐 (左、在琉米陸軍輸送部隊管理部長)、西銘順治那覇市長 (中央)、ジョージ・M・ブルック・ジュニア博士 (右、東京の慶應義塾大学フルブライト研究教授) が墓地に花輪を置く様子。写真の他は、サミュエル・H・北村氏 (高等弁務官室広報局文化課)、金城重正氏 (市長秘書)、古堅宗徳氏 (副市長)。
