A 100 piece Ryukyuan-American band presented a Commodore Perry 110th Anniversary Concert at Government (USCAR) Plaza, Naha on Sunday, May 26, the first day of 1963's Ryukyuan-American Friendship Week (RAFW). The band was composed of members of the Naha Senior High School Band, the Naha Commercial High School Band and the 29th U.S. Army Band. The theme of the concert centered around Commodore Perry's visit to the Ryukyus in 1853; this year's commemoration marks the 110th anniversary of the Commodore's visit. Approximately 1,000 persons attended the concert.
【和訳】 琉米混合バンドコンサート
1963年の琉米親善週間初日の5月26日(日)、那覇市の政府前広場で100名の琉米バンドがペリー提督110周年記念コンサートを開催した。バンドは那覇高等学校バンド、那覇商業高校バンド、第29米陸軍バンドのメンバーで構成された。コンサートのテーマは、1853年のペリー提督の琉球訪問を中心に行われた。今年の記念日は、ペリー提督訪問110周年を迎える。コンサートには約1,000人が参加した。
