The Ishikawa Cultural Center was first opened on April 19, 1947 as an information center and library. It was transferred to the U.S. Civil Administration in December 1950 and was redesignated as the Ishikawa Ryukyuan-American Cultural Center, its present name The center is one of five in the Ryukyu Islands.
