MASTER CAPTION
INTERNATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK - Libraries throughout the Ryukyu Islands celebrated the Ninth International Library Week during the week of April 16-22. The theme of the week - "THE LIBRARY IS THE FOUNTAIN OF KNOWLEDGE." The week-long celebration was highlighted by "open house," book displays and book presentations, audio-visual activities and seminars in the major libraries,including those of the Ryukyuan-American Cultural Centers and community libraries, The modern library today offers such services as lectures and discussion groups, children's activities and clubs, in-service training and audio-visual presentations besides the routine lending of books and providing reading rooms with open reference, magazine and newspaper shelves for the general public.

第9回国際図書館週間中、那覇、名護、八重山各琉米文化会館、嘉手納親善ホール国際大学図書館で新刊図書の展示会が行われた。

国際図書館週間
4月16日から22日までの第9回国際図書館週間に際し、全琉の図書館で各種の行事が催された。週間のスローガンは「図書館は知識の泉」であった。週間中、一般公開、図書の展示、図書の贈呈、視聴覚活動、セミナー等が各琉米文化会館、地域の図書館で行われた。現代の図書館では講義、討論、児童活動、児童クラブ、館内サービス訓練、視聴覚活動が通常の図書貸出、参考図書、雑誌、新聞を備えた読書室の提供の他に行われる。
